Younger city, older houses
Centennial only became a city in 2001, but the Census shows most of its homes were built in the 1970s through the 1990s, and very few since 2010. That makes it one of the metro's biggest concentrations of homes on their third or fourth repaint.
Hardboard and original wood trim
Houses from that era commonly have hardboard lap siding, cedar or pine trim, and wood garage doors. Edge sealing, wood replacement where it has softened and careful caulking are where the money is well spent.
Shade on one side, sun on the other
Mature trees in Willow Creek and Southglenn shade some walls almost completely while others bake. One house can need mildew treatment on the north side and heavy chalk removal on the south.
Good cabinet boxes
Kitchens from this era often have solid wood boxes and doors that are worth refinishing rather than replacing.
