What our workmanship warranty covers, what it leaves out and why, and exactly what happens when you call about a problem.
Painter Hotline gives every project an industry-leading 5-year workmanship warranty, in writing, protecting you against anything we could have done better or that wasn't done right. Peeling, flaking, blistering or loss of adhesion caused by our preparation or application is inspected free and corrected at no cost. Normal fading, water damage from other causes, rot or cracking in the material underneath, storm damage and problems we flagged in writing are excluded. The paint itself also carries the manufacturer's own warranty.
Covered for five years
- Paint that peels, flakes, blisters or separates because of how we prepared or applied it.
- Failures on surfaces where priming was our job and the primer was not up to it.
- Loss of adhesion on anything we cleaned, primed and coated.
- Application mistakes such as runs, sags, thin coverage or missed spots. We would rather you point those out at the final walkthrough, but they are covered after it too.
Left out, and the reason for each
- Ordinary fading and chalking. Every pigment weathers over time. That is why we steer sun-facing walls toward a better product rather than overpromising.
- Water we did not cause. Roof leaks, bad flashing, gutters spilling down a wall and sprinklers soaking the siding will push off any coating.
- Failure of what is under the paint. Rotting wood, crumbling stucco or deteriorating masonry beneath a sound coat.
- Hail, fire, impact and other acts of nature. Those belong with your insurer; we can document the damage for the claim.
- Problems we wrote down that you chose not to fix. If the estimate lists failing siding boards and you ask us to paint them anyway, we will, and the estimate notes that those boards sit outside the warranty.
What a claim looks like
- Call 720-208-5645. It is the same number you used to book.
- Send a few photos if you can; they speed things up.
- Someone comes out to look. There is no charge for that visit.
- If our workmanship caused it, we fix it at our cost.
- If something else caused it, we tell you what, even when the real problem is a gutter or a roof.
Your coverage is really two warranties
Ours covers the labor: preparation and application. The paint maker, Sherwin-Williams, PPG or Behr, separately warrants the product. Keep the estimate and invoice together; they name the exact product and date, which is what a manufacturer will ask for.
Helping it last the full five years
Point sprinklers away from the walls, keep the gutters clear, trim shrubs back so they are not rubbing the paint, and call when you first see a problem rather than after it has spread.
Warranty questions
What does the 5-year warranty cover?
The part we control: how the surface was prepared and how the coating was applied. Paint that peels, flakes, blisters or lets go because of our prep or application within five years is corrected at no charge.
Does it cover fading?
No. Sunlight slowly breaks down pigment on every painted surface, and at Colorado altitude it happens faster. We would rather recommend a better product for south and west walls than promise something physics will not allow.
What if water is the real cause?
Then we say so and show you where it is coming from. Leaking roofs, missing flashing, overflowing gutters and sprinklers aimed at the siding will lift any paint, and those causes are excluded.
Can the warranty transfer to a buyer?
Call us before closing. Transfers are handled case by case, and having the warranty and estimate on file helps at a sale.
Do commercial and HOA projects get the same warranty?
Yes. The same written 5-year workmanship warranty applies.
How do I start a claim?
Call 720-208-5645, ideally with photos. Looking at it costs you nothing, and covered failures are fixed at no charge.
