Brackets, spindles, scrollwork and wood siding need patient hand prep and primers suited to old, layered coatings.
Deep valley shade means slow drying and a narrow exterior season.
Homes and cabins along Alvarado Road and toward Guanella Pass are more often log or rough-sawn wood than painted clapboard. Those get cleaned and re-stained rather than painted, on a shorter cycle than the sheltered houses in town.
We also cover Silver Plume, two miles up the valley, which shares Georgetown's landmark district and its mix of small Victorian houses and cabins. Summer visitors heading for the Georgetown Loop Railroad fill the streets on weekends, so exterior work on the busiest blocks goes on weekdays.
Victorian porches here often carry three or four trim colors on brackets, spindles and window hoods. Every added color is more cutting-in time, so the estimate counts the color breaks, not just the wall area.
